Discussion:
Slow Login Great Plains version 8

I have seen some suggestions about version 9, but I still have problems with
a slow login for version 8.

It appears that the process that can take over a minute on its own is
Updating Menus, which I am aware is less than some other users, but one of
our products doesn't register until the end of everything, so it is a bit of
a pain

I have tried the suggestion in another post about the SY07110 but that
didn't resolve it.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks

Did you delete the contents of the syMenuMstr (SY07110) table? This table
will be rebuilt on the next login. Once created, check the number of
records. It should not grow after that, but some applications have a bug
which adds extra records every login. This has two effects... it slows login
and it causes issues with Advanced Security which uses the syMenuMstr table
to read the menu structure.

I would also recommend ensuring v8.0 Service Pack 5 is installed as this is
the latest version.

Hi David

Yes, I did delete the contents of that table, and have done so again to
check. There were only an additional 10 entries, in the old file, which I
guess are accounted for because we have changed one of the addin products to
a newer version completely now (Rockton DRM from Crystal Integration).

We are still on SP4 for Great Plains, mainly because I couldn't see any
relevent issues listed for us - Are you saying that this may help it?

Thanks

Neil

I am not saying that SP5 will specifically fix your issues, but I would
suggest that unless you plan to upgrade to v9.0 or the upcoming v10.0 soon,
it would be worth being on the latest and greatest v8.0 code.
